YMCA Of Hackensack
Meet the Merchant: “One of the best things about working here is being able to partner with city officials, the Main Street Business Alliance, and the Board of Education, all of which are dedicated to improving the life of the residents of Hackensack. I’ve worked for numerous Y’s in different places, and it’s gratifying to work in a city where the mayor and his staff are actually doing what they say they are – helping to both make Hackensack more attractive to developers and a better place to live and work for all Hackensack residents.
“The Y is here to serve the community as well. Community needs change, and we need to stay relevant to those who need us. The YMCA of Greater Bergen County has grown and worked hard to meet these changing needs for over 100 years. The new development on Main Street will bring a new constituency, and we’ll be ready to welcome these new children and families. I am incredibly optimistic and, in fact, convinced that Hackensack has a very bright future. The work that has already begun on revitalizing the downtown is not just impressive but remarkable. The city and its partners not only have a clear vision but have proven themselves time and again as committed to making this vision a reality.” – Glenn MacAfee
